Why do I think it’s important to include posts about eating disorders? First, because I was an athlete with eating disorder for many years. Second, there is strong and consistent evidence that eating disorders are prevalent in athletes. Being an athlete does not cause you to develop eating disorders, yet certain aspects of sport can heighten vulnerability and risks. You don’t have to be diagnosed with a clinical eating disorder to exhibit disordered eating behaviors.

I think it’s important to increase awareness, remove stigmas, and debunk stereotypes about eating disorders. Eating disorder recovery looks different for each individual. This blog provides insight into eating disorders and disordered eating in athletes, my journey through recovery, and resources to help you develop ways to manage negative behaviors.
